York Region AACC is an organization committed to the development of a cohesive and influential African Canadian Community. We encourage community participation from citizens, employees and allies of York Region especially people of African Heritage.
Our Elders Circle (Board) and Advisors encompass professionals, community members and other concerned citizens who are passionate about educational, social, cultural and economic development of the African Canadian community.
Community participant enhance our network by advocating, supporting, soliciting or contributing to strategies and policies that will help us realize our vision and mission.
Citizens, organizations and agencies may join York Region AACC, attend our community meetings and help drive the network to evoke positive changes for York Region People of African heritage.
What you can do for your community?
We need people with knowledge and skills in the following key areas to volunteer their talents in serving our community. We are seeking volunteers with requisite skills, knowledge and experience to serve as advisors, committee members, or advocates.

Sankofa Mentoring & Cultural Identity Programs
for Black students Grades 3-5 Grades 6-8
The York Region Alliance of African Canadian Communities (YRAACC) Sankofa Programs offers an Africentric curriculum that is focused on activities that provide workshop sessions for Black Students to enhance their racial and cultural identity, self-esteem, critical thinking, self-reflection, teamwork, and community engagements.
