SANKOFA MENTORING SCHOLARSHIP
Sankofa is a powerful African principle that means “go back and fetch it”, a call to reclaim wisdom from the past to build a stronger future.
The Sankofa Mentoring Scholarship is rooted in this spirit. It recognizes Black students in York Region who excel in their academic journeys while making a conscious commitment to return, mentor youth, and share their lived experiences.
These students are more than scholars, they are bridges between generations.
They carry forward culture, resilience, and vision.
