From Labour to Legacy
Many Black seniors have spent much of their working lives unseen, undervalued, or limited within workplaces that did not fully recognize their contributions. Retirement offers something different: freedom to define one’s impact on their own terms.
This is the time to shift from labour to legacy:
- From working for others to pouring into the community
- From being managed to mentoring
- From surviving systems to shaping futures
Their stories hold lessons about perseverance, dignity, identity, and courage—lessons the younger generation deeply needs.
